Wasabi Tours Hawaii
The Big Island is the size of Connecticut and the volcano is on the far side from the resorts. Wasabi's answer since 2006 is a fleet of Mercedes Sprinters with thirteen seats, a guide who talks for eleven hours without losing the van, lunch from their own kitchen, and every park fee paid. The company
A mother-and-son company from 2006
Jay Geng and his mother Aling started Wasabi Tours in Kona in 2006. Hawaii Business named it a Small Business Editor's Choice in 2023, when it had passed four thousand five-star reviews and doubled revenue in a year; Geng told the magazine the reputation came from taking care of the staff. Brian Nichols runs operations, Geng handles marketing, and the guides work in English, Chinese, Japanese and Korean.
The fleet is twelve Mercedes Sprinters with bucket seats, tall ceilings, USB ports and air conditioning, capped at thirteen guests each, plus a GLS SUV for private groups of five. Lunch comes from a commercial kitchen, admission fees are built in, and rain gear rides along. The company is a member of Sustainable Tourism Hawaii and says it follows the Hawaii Ecotourism Association's tenets.

Twilight Volcano and Stargazing
Twelve hours, picked up between 9:30 and 11. A coffee farm, the black sand at Punaluu, then Hawaii Volcanoes National Park in the late afternoon: the Nahuku lava tube, Chain of Craters Road, and the crater lookouts as the light goes, which is when any glow shows. Dinner at a restaurant near the park, then stargazing on the way home near Mauna Kea.
Lava is never guaranteed; the company says conditions change by the hour and this tour is the best shot. Lunch, dinner, park fees and jackets are included. Ages 5 and up.

Reviewers name their guide first, then the storytelling that carries an eleven-hour day, the comfort of the vans, the small group, and guides who rerouted around closed parks and a hurricane in summer 2026. The recurring gripe is a lunch that arrives lukewarm.
