Body Glove Hawaii

The big boat off Kailua Pier. Kanoa II is a 65-foot catamaran with two decks, three restrooms, a full bar, a 20-foot water slide and a 15-foot jump, and the morning snorkel to Red Hill comes with breakfast, a barbecue lunch and dolphins on the way. Since 2022 there is also a 41-foot super-raft for the coast the big boat cannot reach.

The company

Maggie Brown's boat since 1988

Body Glove Cruises started in Kona in 1988; the boat and the company belong to Kanoa, Inc., and the Body Glove name is used under license. Maggie Brown came to Hawaii in 1971 from a family that had been building and running boats since the 1700s, joined the company at the start as marketing director, and has owned and run it as president since. She has called boating her church and the place she found her peace.

Kanoa II replaced the original 55-foot Kanoa: 65 feet, two decks, a fully shaded booth deck and a bench deck, wheelchair access on the lower level, solar panels, hot showers and a bar. The Kona Explorer, a 41-foot raft with twin 350 Suzukis and a restroom, arrived in August 2022 to run the coast 25 miles in either direction. The company is certified by the Sustainable Tourism Association of Hawaii, Dolphin SMART compliant, runs plastic-free, and has offset 550 tons of carbon since 2019.
